Great and versatile synthesizer
If you are considering whether to get the Prophet6 or OB-6, here is a small comparison from someone who has both:
The prophet6 VCOs sounds a bit more moody and dark, due to the tri-wave sub-oscillator and the fact that both main oscillators can do a tri-wave. The OB-6 sounds more growling and aggressive in comparison, although there of course is some overlap between the two. The tuning of the Prophet is tighter, which I find good for bass, and you can always add slop if you want drifty pads.
In addition to the low pass filter, the Prophet6 has a high-pass filter which imo is much more useful than the notch filter on OB-6. The OB-6 filter does sound very good in general though, with a lot of sizzle and character, but the Prophet6 filter is perhaps more versatile and less prone to making all patches sound the same. When you just play for fun, the OB-6 sounds more full-bodied and awesome, but in a mix, I find it easier to squeeze in the Prophet6.
The panel layout is a bit better on the OB-6, but it is still OK on the Prophet6.
I am keeping both btw. On paper they look 95% identical, but each of them excel in different areas of sound and use.
PS, the Prophet6 looks even better in person than on the photos. On photos the wood looks almost red ororange, but in reality the wood parts are a more matt grey'ish brown that looks super classy. When my wife saw it, she even said I could put it in the living room!
