Thomann E-Bass Case ABS

I have similar cases of this type, so this particular case is exactly what I expected when I ordered it - no more, no less. It's great for most "conventionally-shaped" basses (P-bass, J-bass and the like) and there's a little room left over for anything slightly larger or slightly out of the above shape. It's fairly inexpensive, light and practical - perfect for most "typical everyday" storage and transport needs. It's definitely not a flight case, so don't expect it to survive long if you're treating it like one but it's 100% better than any softshell/gig bag solution, that's for sure. I'll chime in on the comments of others and re-state that there is a long-lasting, heavy "chemical" smell coming from this inside of this case that doesn't just disappear after airing it out a few times for a few hours - expect it to hang around for a loooooong time. I don't know if it's the glue, the fabric dye or the plastic itself producing this smell but I will say that I think Thomann really should address this issue to eliminate it from this product (and similar products?) in the future. If I could make one suggestion, I would say that this case should have come with a loose block of dense foam (similarly colored to the plush on the inside of the case) set tight inside the body cavity so that bass owners could remove it and trace the outline of their basses onto it to cut out their shape and create a better form-fit inside the case. I use my case for a Jackson CBX V bass and there is a few centimeters of play which means that the bass can shift about as it pleases during transport. Including a block of removable, soft foam inside the case would provide purchasers a great help in eliminating this play right from day one. Lastly, a strap inside with velcro on the tip to reach from one side of the bass neck to the other (like my original '80's & '90's Guild Pilot cases have) to help secure the bass inside the case would be a great idea as well - I'd be willing to pay a few Euros more for the foam block and the strap. All in all a good buy and I can certainly recommend this case to anyone looking for something much better than a softshell/gigbag solution and something much cheaper than a brand original/form-fitting case.
