cheap, gets the job done
I have a pair of Genelec monitors in my studio but needed something for my smaller home studio set up. Was looking around for something not so expensive and did not have the need for the perfect mastering monitors. Just a pair of speakers to make music with, and they work fine for that.
They sound ok. I mean they are cheap, you cant expect pro hi-end sound for this price. There is some stuff that I can hear in my genelec speakers that I can not hear in these yamaha, but that´s not any surprise. So that would be the only negative thing but when you look at the price for these Yamahas they are totally worth it.
I can recommend them If you need something to make and play music with. For mixing, maybe. For mastering, definitely no.
